What is the EVO Visian ICL?

The EVO Visian ICL is a type of ICL, or implantable collamer lens, that an eye doctor can place inside your eye to improve vision and reduce your dependency on visual aids. There are many different ICLs on the market.

However, the EVO Visian ICL offers unique advantages of its own. If you are considering permanent vision correction, the EVO Visian ICL may be an excellent option for you.

In order to determine whether or not you may be a candidate for the EVO Visian ICL, you must first visit your eye doctor at New England Eye Center for an evaluation. At this evaluation, your eye doctor will take measurements of your eyes and vision.

All of this necessary information will help your eye doctor determine if the EVO Visian ICL is a good fit for you.

Who is a Candidate For the EVO Visian ICL Procedure?

Your eye doctor will have specific candidacy requirements for the EVO Visian ICL. The only way to know for sure is to visit your eye doctor at New England Eye Center for a consultation.

Here are some factors your eye doctor may consider when determining your candidacy:

The EVO Visian ICL can only correct vision in those who are nearsighted or who have nearsightedness with astigmatism. The EVO Visian ICL cannot correct vision in those who have farsightedness or any other refractive errors.

Your eye doctor will likely want you to be within the recommended age range and have a glasses prescription that has been stable for at least a year. This is to ensure that the amount your eyes will change after the procedure is limited.

Since those who are pregnant or breastfeeding often experience hormonal changes that can affect their vision, your eye doctor will want to wait until you are completely done with breastfeeding before scheduling you for ICL surgery. The EVO Visian ICL may be a good option for permanent vision correction for chronic dry eye patients.

This is because, unlike other methods of permanent vision correction, the EVO Visian ICL procedure does not alter any cornea tissue. Therefore, this procedure will not worsen or cause dry eye syndrome.

Why Should I Choose the EVO Visian ICL?

There are many benefits to choosing the EVO Visian ICL. With all of the options for permanent vision correction available, it is important to consider all the factors which may help you make your decision.

When compared to other ICLs, the EVO Visian ICL has a few standout features. Unlike other ICLs, the EVO Visian ICL does not require an additional laser procedure, called an LPI, prior to ICL surgery.

LPI, or laser peripheral iridotomy, is a procedure where your eye doctor uses a laser to make a hole in your iris, which is the colored part of your eye. This is necessary with other ICLs to prevent a rise in eye pressure after the procedure.

Thanks to the advanced technology of the EVO Visian ICL, you will be able to skip this laser procedure and go straight to ICL surgery. In addition to forgoing this step, the EVO Visian ICL offers a quick recovery.

Many people are able to resume most of their everyday activities within days of the procedure. Another benefit to choosing the EVO Visian ICL procedure over other types of permanent vision procedures is that the EVO Visian ICL can be removed by your eye doctor if needed.

If there is any reason why your eye doctor may need to take out the ICL, it is removable. The EVO Visian ICL also offers UV protection, excellent night vision, and significant vision improvement.

What Happens During the EVO Visian ICL Procedure?

The EVO Visian ICL procedure is relatively quick, lasting less than thirty minutes. First, your eye doctor will perform a pre-op examination of your eyes and ensure that you are ready for the procedure.

Next, they numb the surface of your eye with eye drops. Once the eye drops have taken effect, they will begin the procedure.

During the procedure, your eye surgeon will make a tiny opening in your cornea, which is the transparent window at the front of your eye. This opening is necessary to reach the area where the EVO Visian ICL will be placed in your eye.

Next, they will insert the new ICL into your eye and position it into place. Once in your eye, the EVO Visian ICL will rest between your iris and natural lens.

After the EVO Visian ICL is in place, the procedure is complete. The tiny opening in your cornea will heal naturally on its own during your recovery process.

Following the procedure, your eye surgeon will review some instructions to ensure you are prepared for a successful recovery.

What Happens During Recovery After the EVO Visian ICL Procedure?

You will likely notice immediate improvement in your vision after the EVO Visian ICL procedure. The EVO Visian ICL procedure is an outpatient procedure, so you get to go home the same day.

Your eye doctor will want to see you the following day to check on you and your eyes. They may also instruct you to use prescription eye drops during the healing process.

It is essential to take these drops as directed as they will help your eyes recover from the procedure and help avoid any possible complications.
