Specialties
Dr. Witkin is available for consultation in all areas of medical and surgical vitreoretinal diseases. His special clinical interests include: macular degeneration, macular holes and puckers, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disease, central serous chorioretinopathy, retinal detachment, posterior segment uveitis, ocular trauma, complications of eye surgery, intraocular lens replacement, and implementation of retinal prosthesis (Argus II).
Dr. Witkin is the Director of Clinical Research at New England Eye Center. His particular research interests include retinal imaging, treatment of exudative and non-exudative age-related macular degeneration, treatment of central serous chorioretinopathy, toxicity and side effects of intraocular medications. Recently, he was the lead author of an article on a newly identified syndrome called Hemorrhagic Occlusive Retinal Vasculitis, or HORV.
Dr. Witkin loves spending time with his two young daughters, and strives to have as much time with them as possible. An avid downhill skier, he skis locally whenever he has time, and tries to go out West to ski once a year. He is a New England Patriots fan.
