New England Eye Center Vice Chair of Clinical Services
BOSTON, MA January 05, 2017 – New England Eye Center is proud to announce that Dr. Cynthia Mattox, Director of the Glaucoma and Cataract Service and Vice Chair of Clinical Services for New England Eye Center, has been elected as the President of the American Glaucoma Society (AGS). The AGS is a highly respected ophthalmology sub-specialty group with a mission to promote excellence in patient care, and to advance education and research in glaucoma disease. The organization serves as an important advocacy force to promote glaucoma awareness among policy makers and the general public.
Cynthia Mattox, MD
Dr. Mattox has received many accolades for her tremendous contributions and leadership role at the local and national level. She has served on the Health Policy committee of the American Academy of Ophthalmology for many years, and has worked on developing quality measures to improve ophthalmic care in the U.S. as well as on fair reimbursement practices. In 2014 she received the Outstanding Advocate Award from the AAO, and in 2016 was elected to a four-year term on the AAO Board of Directors. Most recently she was named as one of Boston magazine’s “Top Docs” for 2016.
