BOSTON (July 31, 2017) – Eli Peli, MSc, OD, FAAO, Co-Director of the Vision Rehabilitation Service at New England Eye Center, has been selected by the American Academy of Optometry as the Charles F. Prentice Medal Award Winner for this year.
This is the most prestigious award given in the field of Optometry for a lifetime career achievement in vision research and care.
Dr. Peli’s landmark research in low vision has helped develop visual aids that enable patients to safely perform essential daily activities of living. He has worked to develop a metric for contrast in complex images that permits quantitative specification of contrast in images, which has been widely used. His more recent work focuses on mobility and mobility devices.
