Dr. Shilpa Desai is a board certified ophthalmologist practicing in the Boston Area. She completed her undergraduate degree at MIT and obtained her medical degree at Harvard Medical School. She then completed her residency in Ophthalmology at the University of California San Francisco. Afterward, she returned to Boston to complete a Vitreo-Retinal surgery fellowship at New England Eye Center.
Dr. Desai treats diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, as well as retinal tears and detachments. In addition to seeing patients she is also actively involved in Medical Student Education at Tufts Medical School and in clinical research on retinal disease.
Clinical Specialties: All conditions of the retina and vitreous, including macular degeneration, macular diseases, vitreomacular disorders, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disorders, retinal detachment, ocular trauma, and cataract complications.
