As one of the largest academic eye centers in the country, the New England Eye Center team strives for excellence and innovation in patient care, education, and vision research.
Patient Care
We are committed to delivering the highest quality eye health and vision care services in a patient-focused environment. Our comprehensive services range from basic eye examinations and disease screening to the diagnosis and management (medical, surgical, and laser) of virtually every ocular disorder. We deliver this care in modern facilities outfitted with the latest technology.
Our seven offices throughout Eastern Massachusetts offer our specialists’ expertise in community settings. We treat both adults and children from across New England, the United States, and the world.
Education
We provide in-depth educational opportunities to ophthalmology residents and fellows as well as medical students and practicing ophthalmologists. We are part of Tufts Medical Center, the primary teaching hospital for Tufts University School of Medicine.
Our main office is on the Tufts Medical Center campus in Boston, and all of our ophthalmologists have appointments at the Tufts University School of Medicine.
Vision Research
Another central aspect of our mission is research into the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of a variety of vision-threatening conditions.
Our researchers had critical roles in some of the most important recent breakthroughs in ophthalmologic care, including the development of optical coherence tomography (OCT), understanding the genetic basis for age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and the use of corticosteroids for diabetic macular edema (DME).
